| Mr. Hollister,
---Black Word Publishing

Black Word Publishing was created in 2006 as a self publishing company,
primarily for myself. In 2007, with the help of my daughter's mother and
former advisor/artist on my label, I launched Black Word Publishing into
an actual business with the release of my 1st book, Erotic Gemini. To
me, what I was looking to establish was a publishing company that worked
directly with the artist themselves, believing strongly in the fact that
people should see their work for what it is, and not some diluted fragment
of what they once created.
My objection with my company is to provide an innovative alternative to
the "normal publishing companies". I do this 1st of all by offering
different means of publishing, such as a majority of creative freedom
to be given to the artist.
Also, another innovative system of which I use is the "No Contract
Clause" which simply states that no one who works with my company
is under a contractual agreement to produce works or material beyond the
initial piece they have written. I try to treat this as a situation where
no one (including myself) is obligated to held to a certain limit on the
number of works they produce.
The name Black Word Publishing symbolizes also the striving to work with,
cultivate and advance undiscovered talented African American authors and
poets. Again, working directly with the artists and being a creative force,
I also instituted the concept of placing the artists on the covers of
their own books, somewhat as a nod to the music industry. With that said,
I want the readers to get to know the artist beyond the book they are
reading, and showcasing their faces on their own covers helps with that
system.
I have my own publishers who are located in North Carolina and they are
in charge of the actual printing and distribution of my artist's books.
I work in paring with Barnes and Nobles and right now my book Erotic Gemini
can be found on Barnes and Nobles.com I also have a team of photographers,
networking staff and persons in different cities that help support Black
Word Publishing and its long term future goals.
Beyond the literary aspects of my company, I am also beginning the process
of starting an online monthly magazine called Honey Dipp. This project
will consist of the magazine being in the same category of Vibe and King
magazine, where I will feature everything from music to movies, books
to video games, interviews with models and a column written by myself
in ode to a particular monthly topic. Other endeavors that I am starting
is Black Word Nation, a half-hour weekly public access show where I hold
forums and topics on current events and other issues.
All and all, I am striving to advance myself beyond the realm of writing,
as I have dedicated myself to producing quality work from the artists
who decide to work with me.
Black Word Publishing is headquartered in Columbus, OH with affiliates
in North Carolina, Chicago and Arizona.
I can be reached at blackwordpublishing@gmail.com and my soon-to-be released
official website blackwordpublishing.net
My 1st solo book entitled The Epistle of Chris(t) is set to be released
in Jan. of 2009 and I will be doing open mic shows in Columbus and North
Carolina in the proceeding months.
